Man tries to rob bank's cash bag

A man who tried to snatch a bag of cash being delivered to a high street bank is being hunted by police.

The attempted robbery happened outside Barclays Bank in Station Road, New Milton, Hampshire, at about 1200 GMT.

As a Group 4 security guard made a delivery, a man tried to grab the bag, police said. The guard was not injured.

The man escaped through a recreational ground. Police are searching the area and speaking to potential witnesses. The bank has been cordoned off.

The attempted robber has been described as 6ft tall and wearing a grey sweat top with a hood, a pair of black tracksuit trousers and black trainers.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
