Motorcyclist killed in van crash

A van driver has been arrested following a crash in County Durham in which a motorcyclist died.

Terence Stockill, 65, and from Ford Terrace in Chilton, was killed in the collision involving his Honda Revere and a Ford Transit on Monday evening.

It is believed the van was turning from a lay-by into the opposite carriageway of the A167 at Newton Aycliffe.

The driver, a 47-year-old Lincolnshire man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Anyone with information about the incident, at about 1815 GMT, and just south of the junction with the B6443, is asked to contact Durham Police.
