A soldier from Teesside has pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving after a head-on collision in Cumbria which killed his fiancee.

Victoria Baines, 38, from Stockton, died in hospital following the crash on the A591 near Keswick, last November.

She was a passenger in a Jaguar driven by Staff Sergeant Sean Arundale, of the Royal Engineers.

The 35-year-old, of Fairfield Road, Stockton, was bailed and will be sentenced on 27 November.

Carlisle Crown Court was told on Monday that he had been driving too fast in wet conditions.
