Fake alcohol factory closed down

A major fake vodka factory in Leicestershire has been closed down after raids by customs officers.

About 70 officers raided the plant at Little Dalby and seized 10,000 litres (2,200 gallons) of counterfeit vodka.

More than 35,000 litres (7,700 gallons) of pure alcohol was also found. Officers said the revenue loss would have been more than £1m.

Four men from Nottingham, one man from Doncaster and another man from Weston-super-Mare have been arrested.

The six men have been released on bail until January.

The operation was supported by Leicestershire Trading Standards.
