Man is charged over stab murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a County Durham mother-of-three who suffered multiple stab wounds.

The body of Lisa Leckenby, 28, was discovered in the living room of a terraced house in Tenth Street, Blackhall, near Peterlee on Sunday.

Marcel George Allan appeared before North Durham magistrates in Peterlee and was remanded in custody.

A police spokesman said Mr Allan, 42, was originally from Gateshead, but gave his address as the victim's home.

He is due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on 25 August.
