England and Tottenham Hotspur footballer Jermain Defoe has been fined £500 and had four penalty points put on his licence for speeding.

Defoe, 26, was caught on a speed camera driving a Ferrari at 45mph in a 30mph zone, St Albans magistrates heard.

Prosecutor Andrew Perry said it happened in October 2008 in Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.

Earlier this month, he was convicted of speeding on the M11 in Essex by a district judge sitting in Chelmsford.

He was disqualified from driving but the disqualification was suspended pending an appeal - Defoe has denied any offence.

In the proceedings before St Albans magistrates on Tuesday, Defoe was also ordered to pay £455 costs and a £15 victim impact surcharge.

Defoe of Cuffley, Hertfordshire, did not attend the hearing.
