Man critical after head-on crash

A driver has been seriously injured in a collision with a recycling lorry on a major road in Cumbria.

The head-on crash happened on the A69 at the Naworth crossroads, near Brampton, on Saturday afternoon.

The 43-year-old from Washington in Tyne and Wear, was airlifted to Newcastle General Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

His female passenger and a two-year-old child suffered minor injuries, as did the driver of the lorry.
