Police are looking for an inmate who absconded from an open prison in Worcestershire.

John Shanley, from Coventry, was on day release on 5 July from HMP Hewell Grange in Redditch but failed to return to the prison.

He was jailed in June 2007 for six years for conspiracy to rob. He has previous convictions for burglary, theft and vehicle crime, police said.

The 23-year-old is believed to have a number of relatives in Coventry.

His last known address was in Haynestone Road, Coundon, Coventry, a spokesman added.
