Car crashed after police pursuit

A car that was followed by police has crashed in East Sussex, leaving a young woman driver with serious injuries.

Sussex Police said a Kent Police car followed the Ford Ka from Tunbridge Wells in Kent to Eridge, where the collision happened on Thursday night.

The car, driven by a 24-year-old woman, left the road in Bunny Lane and hit trees, Sussex Police said.

The Sussex force is investigating whether the car was still being pursued by Kent Police when it crashed.

Firefighters freed the woman, from Crowborough, from the wreckage of the collision, which happened at about 2330 BST.

She was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells with serious injuries.
