Air accident investigators are expected to continue inquiries into what caused a light aircraft to crash into a field in Lincolnshire, killing the pilot.
The plane came down close to the river Ancholme at Bishop Norton, near Market Rasen, on Wednesday afternoon.
Lincolnshire Police said the pilot was the only person on board the aircraft which crashed away from any buildings.
An RAF search and rescue team, along with fire and rescue teams, were called to the crash site.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out later.
Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) officers have been investigating the scene of the crash.
'Engines ablaze'
Police said it was not known where the aircraft had flown from or its planned destination.
A spokeswoman for Lincolnshire Police said: "The aircraft will remain at the scene for at least a day and scene guard will remain in place.
"The Air Accident Investigation Branch will conduct a joint investigation with Lincolnshire Police."
Eyewitness Andrew Henderson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire described the moments before impact.
He said: "You could clearly see one of the engines on fire and smoke coming out of it followed by an almighty fireball."
