Biker killed in crash identified

A motorcyclist who died in a road crash in North Yorkshire at the weekend has been identified by police.

John Crampsey's bike was in a collision with a pick-up truck and another motorcycle on the A59 at Flaxby, near Knaresborough, on Saturday.

The 61-year-old, from Ayton in Washington, Tyne and Wear, later died in hospital.

The driver of the pick-up, who was arrested at the scene, has been bailed while inquiries continue.

The 28-year-old, from Boroughbridge, was held on suspicion of dangerous driving and being unfit to drive through drink and drugs.

The rider of the other motorcycle, who is also from Washington, was a friend of Mr Crampsey. He suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses who saw the three vehicles in the minutes before the crash are being asked to contact police.
