Shotgun man attacked teenage girl

A man forced his way into a house and shot his former partner's daughter in the leg before he was found dead nearby with gunshot wounds, police have said.

Lincolnshire Police were called to an address in Potterhanworth, near Lincoln, on Friday evening.

The 17-year-old girl suffered serious injuries to her leg as a result of a gunshot, officers said.

A 51-year-old man from the Grantham area was found dead in a nearby field with gunshot wounds.

A Lincolnshire Police spokeswoman said: "A man had forced entry to the house and shots were fired.

"A 17-year-old girl suffered serious injuries to her leg and was taken to Lincoln County Hospital where her condition is described as serious, but stable.

BMW sought

"The man was found deceased in field behind the property with gunshot wounds and is believed to be the 51-year-old ex-partner of the victim's mother.

"Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."

Officers said they were also keen to trace a blue BMW 316 thought to belong to the dead man.
