Man accused of burnt car robbery

A man has been charged with robbing a driver who stopped to help the occupants of a burning car in Suffolk.

Matthew Goddard, 22, of no fixed address, is due to appear at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court and is also charged with theft and receiving stolen goods.

Police said the 45-year old victim was injured during the robbery near Rackham's Corner in Corton, on 30 June.

A boy, 17, also arrested in connection with the incident, is due return to Lowestoft Police Station later.

Another boy, 14, arrested on Wednesday 1 July, has been bailed to return to police on 29 July.

A police spokeswoman said the victim stopped when she saw the men's Vauxhall Corsa on fire close to a roundabout.

She suffered injuries during the incident and was taken to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.

Suffolk police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
