Leonardo inventions go on display

Life-sized models based on the designs of renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci are to go on show in Surrey.

About 50 flight, war and civil engineering inventions will be on display at Woking's Lightbox gallery.

The exhibition will also feature one of Leonardo's original notebooks, courtesy of The Victoria and Albert Museum in central London.

A spokeswoman for the Lightbox said it would be the first time the models had gone on display in the UK.

She said: "Stunning full-scale models suspended from the ceilings, interactives and smaller exhibits will take up the entire gallery space in this first time, exclusive showing of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions.

"The exhibition which explores Leonardo's relationship with technology promises something for all ages with related events, talks and workshops running throughout."

The models, which have been previously shown in museums and galleries in Europe, will be displayed at the Lightbox between August and November.

A number of events including an Italian-theme market and garden are also planned in Woking to tie in with the exhibition.
