Neil Lewington was arrested at Lowestoft railway station

A man arrested at a railway station in Suffolk has pleaded not guilty to a series of terrorism offences.

Neil Lewington, 43, of Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire, who was arrested at Lowestoft Station, denied eight charges via a video link to the Old Bailey.

He is accused of preparing for terrorism by possessing the component parts of two improvised incendiary devices in a public place in October.

He is also alleged to have possessed devices to prepare for terrorism.

This is alleged to have included weed killer, firelighters and three tennis balls.

In addition, he is said to have had documents likely to be useful in terrorism, including handwritten notes on the use of the bombs and others entitled "Waffen SS UK members' handbook".

Two further counts alleged he possessed an explosive device "with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury" and that he had explosive substances giving rise to the suspicion that it was not "for a lawful object".

Mr Lewington is also accused of having a book called "Counter Bomb" for terrorism.

He was remanded in custody to face trial on 29 June.
