Walkers support waterways project

Hundreds of people are expected to take part in an eight-mile (12.9km) sponsored walk to raise money for a canal restoration project.

The Wilts and Berks Canal Trust wants to link the Kennet and Avon Canal near Melksham with the River Thames near Abingdon and Severn Canal at Cricklade.

The trust say this would connect Chippenham, Calne, Wootton Bassett and Swindon and boost the local economy.

Walkers will take the route along the canal from Chippenham to Lacock.
