Flight to US in unscheduled stop

Emergency crews were on standby when a transatlantic flight from Bristol made an unscheduled landing at Birmingham International Airport.

A problem with a second engine was reported on the Continental flight, Bristol International said.

It said the Boeing 757 with 156 passengers was going to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

The aircraft left Bristol at 0925 GMT on Saturday and landed at Birmingham at 0950 GMT, said officials.
