Train company expands its fleet

The leased trains will allow Grand Central to operate a fourth service

Rail company Grand Central has acquired additional stock for its North East to London service.

The leasing of two class 180 Adelante trains means the company will be able to operate a fourth daily return service from Sunderland.

The East Coast main line operator also stops at Hartlepool, Eaglescliffe, Northallerton, Thirsk and York.

A spokesman for the York-based company said it planned to start the additional service from June.

Tom Clift, managing director of Grand Central, said: "These trains will create more journey opportunities for our existing passengers and potential customers.

"The leasing of the two class 180 trains is obviously key to this."
