Health body appoints new chairman

A new chairman has been appointed to NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney for Norfolk and Suffolk.

David Edwards, a non-executive director at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was appointed by NHS East of England.

Mr Edwards has 37 years NHS experience and was awarded an OBE for services to healthcare in 2005.

He has also served as chair of the diabetes network in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

Keith Pearson, chairman of NHS East of England, said: "David brings with him a great deal of experience, he has worked in the NHS and the community, at both local and regional levels."

Mr Edwards said: "I am very excited about taking up this new challenge and working with the team to commission and deliver excellent services for patients."
