Deputy head banned from teaching

A deputy headmaster who was convicted of conspiring to defraud a special school has been banned from teaching.

Simon Hann admitted fraudulently taking £20,000 from Hampshire County Council, money meant for pupils at Sundridge School, Waterlooville, Hampshire.

Hann, 42, of Church Road, Chichester, Sussex, was given a suspended jail term at Portsmouth Crown Court in 2006.

Hann was banned from teaching for three years by a General Teaching Council panel on Wednesday.

The panel said he had seriously breached the trust placed in him over a four-year period.

Chairwoman Liz Carter said: "In relation to this, we have decided to issue you with a prohibition order.

"You have completed your community service and we note that you are in the process of repaying the county council."
