Fatal crash motorists identified

A driver who died in a crash with a van on the M23 in Surrey has been identified by police as a 52-year-old woman from West Sussex.

Carol Stallard-Penoyre, from Haywards Heath, died on 17 December when her Smart car collided with a Europcar van.

A second Smart car was also involved in the accident. Its driver, and the van driver, suffered minor injuries.

Police have named another driver, who died in a crash in Lingfield on 18 December, as Elizabeth Hammond, 62.

Ms Hammond, from Copthorne, died when her Mercedes left the road in West Park Road and hit a telegraph pole.
