New trials for dining passengers

Trials of a new catering service on Norwich to London trains will take place during the next two months.

National Express East Anglia announced last month it planned to change the way food and drink was provided on the trains by removing the restaurant car.

The rail operator said it wanted to improve its buffet and at-seat service.

Norwich North MP, Dr Ian Gibson, has said he believed passengers wanted hot food on a journey and that dining cars made people use the railway.

The current restaurant service will close for the Christmas period at the end of 19 December.

From 5 January until the end of February, services will operate with a mix of the existing restaurant services together with trials of the new offer to gather customer feedback.
