Inmate visiting hospital escapes

Mark O'Hara has escaped from Hollesley Bay open prison

A convicted burglar is on the run after he failed to return to Hollesley Bay open prison in Suffolk.

Mark O'Hara, 35, was given permission to leave temporarily to attend a hospital appointment at the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston, Norfolk.

He was last seen on Wednesday 5 November at a McDonald's restaurant in Lowestoft but then disappeared.

According to Prison Service figures 21 inmates absconded from Hollesley Bay open prison in 2006-07.
