Nearly 126,000 young salmon have been released into rivers across the West Midlands in a bid to restore salmon stocks.

The fish have been released into tributaries of the River Severn in Shropshire and Worcestershire.

It is hoped they will stay in the rivers for two winters before journeying out to the Atlantic.

An Environment Agency spokesman said they were working to restock salmon in the Severn area as they had depleted.
