A man has been jailed for 21 months and banned from driving for five years for causing the death of a woman in a head-on crash in Hampshire.

Patricia McGill, 58, of Church Crookham, died following the crash in Aldershot Road, Fleet, on 31 July 2007.

Mrs McGill was taken to the Royal London Hospital where she later died.

Dean Robert, 24, of Spinis, Bracknell, Berkshire, was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving at Winchester Crown Court in September.

Sentencing of Robert, who denied the charge, had been adjourned until Friday.

He has been driving a Ford Transit van on Aldershot Road when he hit Mrs McGill's Ford Fiesta.

Following sentencing, Mrs McGill's husband, Peter, and their adult children Darren, Claire and Marie, said: "Tricia was a truly wonderful person.

"She touched so many people with her warm and loving way. Our lives will never be the same without her.

"She was loved by us all, as she loved us. She did not deserve her fate, but she did deserve the justice she received today."
