Cyclist dies from head injuries

A cyclist has died two weeks after being knocked from his bike.

Police said James Jorgensen, 55, who died of head injuries, was not wearing a helmet when he was in collision with a Hyundai Matrix car on 24 September.

The accident happened on North Road at the Stoneycroft Way, near East Shore Village, in Seaham, County Durham.

Mr Jorgensen, of Hunstanton, died at Newcastle General Hospital on Wednesday. Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash.

The driver of the car involved, a 49-year-old man from Peterlee, and his passengers, a 40-year-old woman from Seaham and her six-year-old daughter, were unhurt.
