The park closed due to the owner suffering from a serious illness

An appeal has started to find a new home for two elderly chimpanzees.

Primates Joey and Tubman, who are in their 40s, will become homeless when Mole Hall animal park, near Saffron Walden, Essex, finally closes.

Most of the animals have been found new homes elsewhere such Shepreth Wildlife Park in Cambridgeshire, but a home has yet to be found for the pair.

Cambridge-based primate rescue charity MONA-UK has started an appeal to raise funds to re-house the animals in Spain.

Tubman and Joey must leave Mole Hall, which is already closed to the public, by the end of the year.
