Four charged over police attack

Three men and a youth have been charged with wounding after two Lancashire police officers were attacked as they tried to make an arrest.

The female sergeant and male Pc were kicked and punched in Skelmersdale, in the early hours of Saturday.

The pair were attacked after approaching a group of about ten people at Ennerdale in the Tanhouse area.

Lancashire police said that three local men and a juvenile were due to appear before Ormskirk magistrates on Monday.

The female officer had facial and leg injuries and her colleague suffered a broken nose, head and leg injuries.
