Arrest over flat stabbing death

Matthew Pyke
Mr Pyke had lived in Nottingham for two years

Police investigating the murder of a 20-year-old student in Nottingham have arrested a man.

The body of Matthew Pyke, from Stowmarket, Suffolk, was found stabbed in his flat above the Orange Tree pub on North Sherwood Street on Friday.

Police said they had informed his family of the arrest but released no further details about the suspect.

Officers have also confirmed they are looking into Mr Pyke's links with the online gaming community.

Mr Pyke ran a web forum for the Nintendo game Advanced Wars.

However, they emphasised this was just one of a number of lines of enquiry.

Detectives said they were still looking for the weapon used.

The 20-year-old was about to start a degree at Nottingham Trent University.
