Machinery worth £6,000 has been stolen from a quarry in County Durham.
Pieces of metal from a conveyor belt and four motors were taken from the disused site near Barnard Castle.
Police said one motor alone weighed half a tonne so a crane would have been needed to steal the equipment and it would have taken some time.
The quarry is in view of the A66 and officers believe motorists may have noticed activity at the mothballed site between 27 August and 2 September.
