Floods cause further rail delays

Passengers should expect delays of about half an hour

Flooding continues to cause disruption on the East Coast Mainline between north-east England and Scotland.

Mainline operator National Express said rail passengers travelling between Newcastle and Edinburgh should expect delays of about half an hour.

All services were terminating at Newcastle on Thursday evening because of heavy rainfall over the border.

Tickets to and from Scotland not used on Thursday would still be honoured on Friday, said a company spokesman.

National Express is accepting tickets bought for CrossCountry services, which also cross the border on the East Coast Mainline.

Tickets from both companies are also being accepted on Virgin Trains' services between London Euston and Glasgow Central, via the North West coast.

Passengers should check with National Rail Enquiries before travelling.
