Post Office consultation finishes

A public consultation into the closure of 51 post offices across the West Midlands has come to an end.

Residents in Edgbaston, where three branches are earmarked for closure, have made a film showing the impact it would have.

Up to 20 branches may close in Coventry and Warwickshire, and others may also close across Birmingham and Solihull.

Following the end of the consultation period the Post Office will decide whether any branches should be saved.

The cuts are part of national plans to reduce the UK-wide network of Post Office branches by up to 2,500, from its current level of more than 14,000.

The Post Office has said closing any branch was a "very difficult" decision.

More than 99% of the area's population would see no change to their nearest branch or would be within a mile of an alternative branch, officials have said.
