Water artwork unveiled at centre

Threshold sculpture
The artwork features 12 steel pieces

A new water sculpture is to be unveiled outside Darlington Arts Centre.

"Threshold" is made from a dozen 18ft (5.5m) high stainless steel pieces, which move up and down according to the weight of water running along them.

Sculptor Angela Conner created the artwork after winning a national competition, involving the Arts Council North East.

She is set to unveil the piece at a ceremony at the Vane Terrace site on Wednesday morning.

Councillor Andy Scott, Darlington Borough Council's cabinet member for health and well being, said: "Threshold is an exciting new artwork encouraging interaction with the space and enhancing the visitor experience."
