Train stuck after hitting trolley

Passengers were left stranded on a train between Birmingham and Coventry after it hit a shopping trolley.

The 1848 London Midland service from New Street to Northampton struck the trolley on the track at about 1920 BST, the rail company said.

The train was left stuck between Adderley Park and Stechford.

Another train was used at about 2030 BST to collect passengers and take them to the next station. Train bosses said services resumed soon after.
