Man charged after fuel raid death

A man has been charged in connection with the theft of red diesel from a farm, after which a woman died.

Rosemary Dove, 68, collapsed on Sunday after dialling 999 at East House Farm, Bishop Middleham, County Durham, where she lived with her husband Frank.

The couple's son Michael was injured when he was hit by the thief's truck after giving chase with his father.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent, theft, theft of a vehicle and driving without insurance.

He is due to appear at South Durham Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Michael Dove is being treated in hospital, where his condition is described as comfortable.
