About 100 jobs are to be lost at a factory in Kent.
Regis Furniture in Sheerness, which makes office and accommodation furniture, has gone into administration after suffering cash flow problems.
The firm said challenging trading conditions and a tightening in the property and construction industry in recent months had led to the decision.
There will also be about 125 redundancies at its sister company, JF Nott, in Witham, Essex.
Alastair Beveridge, who was appointed one of the administrators, said: "It is regrettable that redundancies have been made and we would like to thank employees for the understanding they have shown during this difficult time.
"We are continuing to review all options for the companies, which includes discussions with potential buyers."
