Trains are brought to standstill

All trains travelling between Norwich and London were brought to a standstill after a vehicle struck a rail bridge.

The accident happened near to Chelmsford railway station in Essex at 1055 BST a Network Rail spokesman said.

Normal service was resumed at 1130 BST when the bridge was deemed safe after an inspection by Network Rail.

A National Express spokeswoman said: "Six trains are delayed by up to 40 minutes but they're all now back on the move. There may be some alterations."
