Arson charge over warehouse fire

A man has been charged with deliberately starting a fire which destroyed a Darlington warehouse.

Fire crews spent more than four hours fighting the blaze at the disused building at Whessoe Road on 27 May.

It took a further 24 hours to cool down potentially explosive gas cylinders after the fire, which caused about 100,000 of damage.

An 18-year-old is due to appear before the town's magistrates on 19 June, charged with arson.
