A 21-year-old Cumbrian man has died in hospital, three days after a car being driven by his pregnant partner crashed in County Durham.
Ryan Grindey, from Crosthwaite, near Kendal, never regained consciousness after the incident on the A66, near Bowes, on Saturday.
His partner, who is eight months pregnant, escaped serious injury along with her three children.
Their Astra hit a kerb at Spital Grange Farm and rolled down an embankment.
Durham Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
Mr Grindey was taken to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital with serious head injuries and multiple fractures.
The woman and her children, aged 12, seven and 21 months, were released after treatment at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
