Extra time for bin body officers

Bins sealed off in Fownhope Close, Redditch
Bins behind flats in Fownhope Close were being searched on Friday

Police investigating the murder of a man whose body was found hidden inside a truckload of recycling waste have been given more time to question a man.

The body of Nathan James Lyons, 17, from Birmingham was found on Tuesday in a lorry at a waste disposal centre in Crayford, south-east London.

Officers said the lorry had travelled about 100 miles from the Crossgates depot in Redditch, Worcestershire.

They urged anyone who had seen Mr Lyons in the past month to speak to them.

Flats sealed off

Police were given more time to question the arrested man by magistrates in Redditch on Saturday morning.

Bins used at flats in Fownhope Road, Winyates, Redditch, were being examined by officers on Friday.

An area behind the flats was also sealed off.

A post-mortem examination on Mr Lyons' body proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out.
