Boy in court over woman's murder

A teenager accused of murdering a mother-of-three has appeared in court.

The boy, 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, accused of killing Elaine Walpole, 47.

Mrs Walpole was found dead at her home in Dereham, Norfolk, on 29 April, after being stabbed.

The boy, who is also accused of robbing a woman in King's Lynn, Norfolk, on 6 May, was remanded in custody to appear before Norwich Crown Court on 19 May.

Police said the youth, who lives in the Dereham area, was arrested in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination of Ms Walpole has taken place but the results were inconclusive, police said.
