Passengers are being promised a more comfortable ride
|
Nearly 200 more carriages will come to the East to ease overcrowding on trains between 2009 and 2014.
The Department for Transport said 188 extra units will go to National Express East Anglia to bolster services.
The plan will mean passengers will get thousands of extra seats on trains in Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Talks are continuing to put loco-hauled carriages on the lines from Norwich to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
