Signal fault causes rail delays

Rail passengers have suffered delays to their journeys because of a signal fault near London.

Virgin Train services from Stoke and Stafford to London Euston are among those affected by the power failure on the West Coast line at Milton Keynes.

Virgin was running a reduced service of one train per hour between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly.

National Rail Enquiries did not know how long the disruption, also affecting London Midland services, would last.

Rail engineering works at Rugby over the Bank Holiday weekend caused disruption to passengers travelling to London.

Virgin Trains' West Coast Mainline service to London Euston stopped at Birmingham International or Coventry. Replacement bus services were in place.

Rugby station will be shut every weekend from May to December for track and signalling improvements.
