Mother charged with baby's murder

A woman from Gloucestershire has appeared in court charged with murdering her eight-month-old son in St Merryn, Cornwall.

The 26-year-old woman's child was taken for medical treatment in Padstow for head injuries on 1 July 2007.

He was then flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital near Truro for further treatment but died the following day.

The woman was remanded on conditional bail by magistrates at Bodmin to appear at Truro Crown Court on 1 August 2008.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with murdering her son between 30 June and 2 July 2007.
