Afghanistan tour troops back home

Troops are enjoying their first day back home after serving a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

About 100 soldiers from the Coldstream Guards flew into RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, before returning to their barracks in Windsor, Berkshire.

The troops from No 1 Company were greeted by loved ones when they touched down from Kabul late on Thursday.

All four companies of the battalion have been performing security duties in the Afghan capital.

A welcome home parade is due to take place through Windsor on 26 April.

Household Cavalry troops at Combermere Barracks in Windsor will also be honoured.
