Motorway closed after bike crash

The M6 motorway has been closed in both directions in Cheshire after the death of a motorcyclist in a crash.

The crash happened just after 1800 GMT between junctions 18 and 19, near Knutsford. Police said the motorway was expected to be closed for a few hours.

Officers investigating the incident said the dead motorcyclist was thought to be a man from Staffordshire.

They said the motorbike hit the central reservation while travelling northwards and collided with oncoming traffic.
