Make-up artist 'not seen on CCTV'
Diane Chenery-Wickens
Diane Chenery-Wickens has not been seen since 24 January
A missing make-up artist whose husband has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of murder has not been seen on any CCTV footage examined by police.

Det Ch Insp Steve Johns said officers collected and viewed CCTV in a bid to retrace Diane Chenery-Wickens's steps.

But he said: "At the moment, we have not been able to identify Diane on any of the CCTV footage we have viewed."

The Sussex woman was said to have travelled by train on 24 January, the day her husband reported her missing.

'Train journey'

Mr Johns said the last friend to contact Mrs Chenery-Wickens was a female friend who spoke with her on the phone between 1700 GMT and 1800 GMT on 22 January.

In a fresh appeal on Monday, Mr Johns appealed to anyone who spoke to Mrs Chenery-Wickens in the week she went missing to come forward.

He said: "It is out of character for Diane not to be in touch, especially with her parents."

The 48-year-old was said to have travelled with her husband on 24 January by train from East Grinstead, West Sussex, to London to attend a business meeting at the BBC.

Police believe she did not attend that meeting.

Home searched

David Chenery-Wickens, 51, from Duddleswell, East Sussex, was earlier released on bail by detectives investigating the disappearance.

He was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murder and questioned for three days. Sussex Police were twice granted more time to question him.

Police have searched the couple's home and grounds and dog handlers have searched areas of nearby Ashdown Forest.

A tanker was brought in to pump out a waste tank in the garden and a car was removed from the house on a trailer.

Sussex Police have not revealed what the searches have uncovered.

Bafta-nominated Mrs Chenery-Wickens has worked for more than 20 years on some of television's best-known shows, including the League of Gentleman, Casualty, Pride and Prejudice and Dead Ringers.
