Man on £50,000 fake notes charges
A man has been charged in connection with the production of £50,000 worth of fake £20 notes allegedly distributed in the North East and Scottish Borders.

The man, 49, is charged with 14 counterfeiting offences, after Durham Police raided his home in Oakenshaw, near Crook, in June and August 2007.

A police spokesman said the charges relate to the production, possession and tendering of counterfeit currency.

The man is due before magistrates in Bishop Auckland on 5 February.
