Pair of explorers 'out of money'

Two teenagers who became the youngest Britons to climb Everest have become stuck on the last leg of their latest adventure after running out of money.

Rob Gauntlett, from Petworth in West Sussex, and James Hooper, of Wellington in Somerset, started a trip last year to trek from pole to pole.

The pair are in Argentina and need £70,000 to continue.

They started at the Magnetic North Pole and travelled down through Greenland and America, to South America.

James' father, Dan, said: "One funder has had a few problems and other funding has been available but only in small amounts.

"It would be devastating not to complete this."

They wanted to raise awareness of climate change by walking, cycling and sailing, and not using any motorised forms of transport at all.

They need to hire a yacht to sail to the Magnetic South Pole, and have a matter of weeks before they lose their window.

They had also planned to raise money for The Prince's Trust during their journey.
