Runners line up at the start of the Norwich half marathon
Runners from Essex won the Norwich half marathon which saw a record entry of 2,300 competitors despite a delayed start in wet and windy weather.

The race started 10 minutes late due to congestion as competitors tried to get to the Norfolk showground start.

The men's race was won by Adrian Mussett from Colchester Harriers in 69mins 4secs.

Sarah Straddling of Colchester and Tendring Athletics Club won the women's race in 81mins 22secs.

Mr Mussett had won the race twice before in the 1990s.

Entries co-ordinator Robert Sneesby said the race all went well when it got going and he regarded the event as a great success.
